One of my favorite types of desserts is bar cookies. I love how simple and easy they are to make, and that you can mix them up so quickly on a whim! There’s really no excuse not to try your hand at making these because all you need is a cake mix! You can even sub out the eggs for something else if you want. These are perfect for summertime since there’s no oven involved. So let’s get started with this recipe!
prep: 10 mins cook: 40 mins total: 50 mins Servings: 16 Yield: 1 9×13 inch pan
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup butter
1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
1 cup chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons water
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in water and egg, then stir in cake mix. Finally, mix in nuts and chocolate chips. Spread mixture into pan.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
