Basic Hummus - Hummus Recipes

Hummus is a great spread to have on hand for dipping pita chips, veggies or crackers. This basic hummus recipe will give you all the flavor of traditional hummus with just a few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen!
Basic Hummus Recipe: Ingredients 1 can garbanzo beans (chick peas) 2 tablespoons tahini 1 tablespoon lemon juice ¼ teaspoon garlic powder ½ teaspoon salt Procedure Drain and rinse the garbanzo beans thoroughly. Combine them with the rest of the ingredients in a food processor or blender until it reaches desired consistency. You may need to add water if it’s too thick. Add additional seasonings to taste if necessary and serve with pita bread, vegetables, crackers

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed

salt and pepper to taste

1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained, liquid reserved

Instructions:

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook and stir the garlic in olive oil for approximately 3 minutes, until tender.

Place garbanzo beans in a blender or food processor with approximately 1 teaspoon reserved liquid. Process until smooth. Mix in the garlic, sesame seeds, salt and pepper. Blend to desired consistency, increasing the amount of reserved garbanzo bean liquid as desired. Chill in the refrigerator until serving.
