In my best memories from childhood, I would always find myself in the kitchen with my mom as she prepared a pot of traditional Viennexican coffee. The smell was intoxicating and often times the only thing that got me out of bed early on Saturday mornings. Now that I am a mother to three little ones, those days are long gone but not forgotten. Sometimes it feels like there is never enough time in a day for everything we want to do or be with our children. That’s why this recipe is so special to me- it brings back those cherished moments from when I was young and lets me experience them again with my own kids now. So grab your favorite mug and let’s get cooking!

⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 ½ teaspoons brown sugar

3 tablespoons whole milk

1 cup hot brewed coffee

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon cocoa powder

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon heavy whipping cream

⅛ teaspoon ground cloves

½ teaspoon orange extract


Stir coffee, milk, cream, brown sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, orange extract, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg together in a large mug until smooth.
