Who doesn’t love a good waffle? These whole grain waffles are made with all natural ingredients and require only five minutes of prep time. They’re the perfect breakfast for your family!
“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” says every parent, right? I know that’s what I tell my kids. But then they get to school and eat lunch by 11:00am. It’s hard to take them out for breakfast at 8:30am when we’re both running late in the morning! What can you do? Breakfast should be easy, nutritious, and delicious – so here’s one solution – whole wheat waffles! Let me show you how easy it is to make these healthy beauties…

Ingredients:

4 teaspoons baking powder

¼ cup unsweetened applesauce

1 ¾ cups skim milk

2 eggs, beaten

¼ cup wheat germ

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup whole wheat pastry flour

¼ cup canola oil

¼ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup flax seed meal

1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions:

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, oil, applesauce, and vanilla. Beat in whole wheat pastry flour, flax seed meal, wheat germ, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until batter is smooth.

Preheat a waffle iron, and coat with cooking spray. Pour batter into waffle iron in batches, and cook until crisp and golden brown.
