Ingredients
  

  • 4 sweet potatoes about 2.5 lbs, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • teaspoon ground cloves
  • teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon molasses honey, or brown sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream or half & half

Instructions
 

  • Peel and chop sweet potatoes. Boil in water until fork-tender, 15-20 minutes. Drain.
  • Melt butter and stir in spices, orange zest, and ½ teaspoon salt.
  • Mash sweet potatoes with the spiced butter mixture.
  • Stir in molasses and cream. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  • Serve warm with optional toppings like toasted pecans or maple syrup.
