Ingredients

  • For the Patty Melts:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 6 slices rye bread
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 6 tablespoon butter softened and unsalted
  • For the Secret Sauce:
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoon chopped bacon pieces
  • 3 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon relish

Instructions

  • Form the ground beef into 3 flattened patties shaped like your bread slices. Season with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Cook the patties over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side until cooked through. Set aside.
  • Mix the mayonnaise, chopped bacon, ketchup, sugar, and relish in a small bowl to make the secret sauce.
  • Wipe the skillet clean and reduce heat to medium. Butter one side of each bread slice.
  • Place 3 slices of bread buttered side down in the skillet. Top each with 2 slices of provolone, a beef patty, and 2 slices of cheddar.
  • Spread the secret sauce on the non-buttered side of the remaining bread slices and place them sauce side down on the patties.
  • Cook until the bottom bread is golden and the cheese is melted. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
