- For the Patty Melts:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 6 slices rye bread
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 slices cheddar cheese
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 6 tablespoon butter softened and unsalted
- For the Secret Sauce:
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoon chopped bacon pieces
- 3 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon relish
Form the ground beef into 3 flattened patties shaped like your bread slices. Season with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Cook the patties over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side until cooked through. Set aside.
Mix the mayonnaise, chopped bacon, ketchup, sugar, and relish in a small bowl to make the secret sauce.
Wipe the skillet clean and reduce heat to medium. Butter one side of each bread slice.
Place 3 slices of bread buttered side down in the skillet. Top each with 2 slices of provolone, a beef patty, and 2 slices of cheddar.
Spread the secret sauce on the non-buttered side of the remaining bread slices and place them sauce side down on the patties.
Cook until the bottom bread is golden and the cheese is melted. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
Serve hot and enjoy!
