  • - 1 stick of unsalted butter at room temperature

  • - 1 large egg at room temperature
  • - 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • 1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, baking soda, and ground nutmeg.
    2. In a separate, larger bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until smooth and consistent.
    3. Reduce the mixer's speed to low and incorporate the egg and vanilla extract.
    4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, blending until seamless.
    5. Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.
    6. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Portion the dough into 12 equal sections and shape into spheres.
    7. Arrange the dough on a baking sheet, spacing them 1 ½ inches apart. Flatten the tops gently.
    8. Bake for 10 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
    9. Allow the cookies to cool slightly before serving.
